Massachusetts has a statutory guideline formula: 33% of the paying spouse's gross income minus 33% of the receiving spouse's gross income.
Governing law: Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 208 §§ 48–55 — Alimony Reform Act (2011): 30–35% of the gross-income difference, generally not to exceed the recipient's need; income already used to compute child support is excluded.

General term alimony duration caps by marriage length (G.L. c. 208 § 49): up to 50% of the months married (≤5 years), 60% (5–10), 70% (10–15), 80% (15–20); indefinite permitted at 20+ years.
